The National Emblem of Cyprus is the Moufflon, a wild sheep that is found in the Troodos mountains. It exists nowhere else in the world and is an endangered species. Other interesting visitors from the animal kingdom include Green and Loggerhead turtles who come to nest and around 10,000 Greater Flamingos temporarily stop over each year to feed at the salt lakes near Larnaca on their migration.
